Quality wood is at the heart of Heavywood Furniture Company products. We start by using only the finest kiln-dried, furniture grade pine. We use Southern Yellow Pine, which has long been utilized for flooring and house framing applications where wood takes a pounding.

After testing each shipment to make sure its moisture content meets our standards, we select only the best wood for every piece of furniture we build. Our manufacturing facilities in Toccoa, Georgia are designed to meet our high standards of construction, quality and efficiency.

As this chart shows, Southern Yellow Pine is high in relative Hardness compared to other species of trees. hardness is the property that makes the wood surface difficult to dent, scratch or cut. The harder the wood, the better it resists wear.
